Maintenance Engineer

  • Salary: Circa 36k + overtime, depending on experience

We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our client, working alongside an Electrician in a 2-man team on a 3-shift rota. This role involves carrying out preventative maintenance tasks, reacting to plant breakdowns and repairs, and installation work on machinery within the factory. The ideal candidate will be mechanically biased with the ability to perform basic electrical fault finding in a heavy engineering environment.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Carry out preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to plant and machinery in a safe and professional manner.
  • Perform installation work on machinery and within the factory.
  • Complete daily shift reports and necessary paperwork.
  • Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, general welding and fabrication, and oxygen/acetylene burning.
  • Operate forklifts, cherry pickers, and overhead cranes.
  • Conduct basic electrical fault finding and other general maintenance tasks as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Completed Apprenticeship or time served, with NVQ level 3 or City and Guilds in Mechanical Maintenance or a relevant qualification.
  • Proof of certification is required.
  • Experience in heavy industrial work, with experience of Slitting/Decoiling machines being an advantage.
  • Basic Electrical qualifications are an advantage.
  • Driving licence preferred.
  • Flexibility with shift hours and availability for overtime to cover holidays and emergency breakdowns.
