Joinery/Exhibitions Workshop Manager


My client is a dynamic and innovative exhibition display manufacturer dedicated to creating immersive experiences for their clients. Our team consists of talented professionals who are committed to delivering high-quality solutions tailored to our clients' needs. My client are looking for a Workshop Manager to join the team. Reporting to the Production Director, the Workshop Manager will oversee two department managers and be responsible for all people management. The ideal candidate will have previous experience within the same, or similar environment, be adaptable, hands-on, a quick problem solver and have the ability to manage people confidently. Main duties, including, but not limited to: * People Management: managing the Production Manager, Logistics Manager as well as daily people management. To monitor breaks, time keeping, and general attitude in the workplace, and on site. Any major issues to be reported to the Production Director. * Daily Working Hours: setting daily workshop hours for all team members, based on workload. Setting start times for onsite teams. * Labour Schedules: to create, monitor and manage the labour schedules for the workshop team, including any unavailability. * Health & Safety: ensuring all team members are adhering to company health & safety procedures, wearing the correct PPE and using machinery and tooling safely. Ensuring all workshop defects, accidents and incidents, regarding health and safety, are reported to a director immediately. Ensure all accidents are reported using correct accident report form and notifying on site first aider if needed. * Timesheet Checks: weekly checks on sub-contractor time sheets to ensure correct, prior to passing to office. Any discrepancies to be rectified. * Production Handovers: attending production handovers with the Project Management Team and Production Director. * Maintaining Stock Levels / Placing Order Requests: daily checks to ensure basic materials are in stock to ensure manufacture can always continue; sheet material, timber, fixings and sundries, (detail on sundries to be provided). Placing order forms, for required stock, with Senior Production Coordinator. * Internal Communication: liaison with both Production Manager, and Logistics Manager, on a daily basis to ensure full transparency, and understanding, on workload, vehicle logistics and manufacturing capacity. Reporting to the Production Director as necessary. * Manufacturing: working on the bench manufacturing, monitoring team members and ensuring Creative8 quality standards are upheld. * Vehicle Checks: assessing the company vehicles and ensuring maintenance is carried out when necessary. * Tooling & Ladder Inspections: minimum once a month, to check company stock ladders and tooling, inclusive of machinery and hand tools. Any defects to be reported and any maintenance repairs to be organised. Ensuring that whilst in use, all tools are safe. * New Starter Induction: prior to commencing work, ensure all new starters have read, understood and signed the new starter pack, all training docs to be signed, and training on machinery carried out. Any issues to be reported to a director. * Maintaining Workshop Standards: all work areas and walkways to be maintained and kept clean and safe, with a clean down each night ensuring a safe environment for all. * Site quality checks: spot checks on site, to ensure the site teams are maintaining Creative8 standards, this can be as part of the build crew. * Absence Support: responsible for overseeing the workload of both Logistics Manager, & Production Manager, in their absence
