Plant Manager


Our client is a UK leading company that specialises in the design, supply, and installation of all types of piling systems and foundation packages. As a reputable and growing business, they have worked on a diverse range of projects in Commercial, Industrial, Public Sector, Civil Engineering and Residential sectors. Working on contracts from £5k to £3m, using state of the art equipment and have a state-of-the-art Precast Factory which produces their bespoke systems which are unique to the UK market. Due to business growth, they are seeking an experienced heavy industry Plant Manager to join their professional and hard working team at their site in Sheffield. For the position of Plant Manager, they are needing someone who is experience is within heavy plant and machinery management to efficiently manage their site and growing fleet of plant, machinery and vehicles. The position will be reporting to the Operations Director, working closely with their contracts team, factory manager and fitting and fabrication staff, based at their head office in Sheffield. THE ROLE: The responsibilities of this role will consist of: Efficiently managing the service and repair of plant, machinery, and vehicles. Manage the Health, Safety and Quality of a busy workshop undertaking plant repair and fabrication. Maintaining accurate and up to date records of all servicing, calibration, statutory inspections, repairs for all plant, machinery, and vehicles. Managing workshop and yard suppliers to achieve best value, controlling expenditure, and working to budgets. To provide management reports and participate in management meetings as directed by the Operations Director. Preparing production and performance reports for senior management Assist in planning and costing both capital expenditure and disposal of plant, machinery, and vehicle assets. To establish relationships and trading arrangements with reputable providers of hired plants as well as plant and spares/parts suppliers. Strong technical experience and knowledge of Plant Hands on and flexible; key as part of a small management team Foster open and honest communication Managing the safe operation of the yard and workshops and the management of both workshop and mobile fitters Managing the performance of the team while ensuring adherence to health and safety regulation To carry out regular stock checks and ensure appropriate systems are in place to prevent fraud, misappropriation or misuse. To oversee the safe and efficient working arrangements in the workshops and yard and ensure that fitters and plant operatives receive the appropriate training and have the requisite qualifications. Working hours are Monday to Friday 7.00am to 5.00pm with some flexibility as and when required from the business. THE CANDIDATE: This role would suit someone with good knowledge and experience of managing the servicing and repair of heavy plant. Require a broad understanding of plant, transport legal requirements.
