The Social Value Manager role

You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Social Value and community engagement for your designated projects, in line with client requirements and the Sir Robert McAlpine Sustainability Strategy. This will include aspects like community consultation and engagement, liaising with local stakeholders, organising and managing educational engagement opportunities, supply chain upskilling, local procurement activities and managing social value campaigns.

Helping Sir Robert McAlpine maximise the Social Value we deliver and construct a better world for future generations.

The role responsibilities include but aren't limited to:

  • Developing Social Value and community engagement programmes, and managing their successful delivery, on assigned projects.
  • Represents the projects at local events, external groups or industry seminars.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders on Social Value and community engagement issues.
  • Provide support and education to supply chain members to ensure Social Value targets and requirements are realised.
  • Reporting performance and sharing best practice on Social Value performance.


Your profile

You will be passionate about your local community and have a drive to make a positive impact locally.

You'll have;

  • a track record of delivering Social Value initiatives, preferably in a construction organisation.
  • excellent understanding of client social value requirements and drivers, including both public and private sectors.
  • in-depth knowledge of local authority Social Value requirements.
  • experience and understanding of national Social Value frameworks and measurement mechanisms.
  • excellent interpersonal skills.
  • the ability and management skills to coordinate stakeholders, clients and the community in an engaging way representing SRM.
