Rail Lineside Building Examiner (STE05)


Our client is looking for a STE5 Examiner to work on a contract basis in the North West. The contract is long term and has been deemed inside IR35. The successful candidate will be someone capable of conducting comprehensive assessments of M&E assets within buildings, lineside and depots. Main duties will include: Conducting visual and detailed OPI inspections to NR standards, in accordance with NR/L3/CIV/006/3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, and 3F. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all inspections. Report and escalate any issues or lost time to the line manager as needed. Detailed inspection of all elements within reach to spot deterioration. Systematic examination based on structure type and access constraints to cover all report criteria. Investigating defects in-depth to assess severity and extent of changes. Special examinations and monitoring for elements outside regular inspections using proper equipment. Assessing structure condition considering materials and environmental factors. Documenting unexamined aspects, condition changes, and photos. Creating technical reports summarizing inspection findings. Conducting scoping visits to plan inspections. Serving as Responsible Person on Site (RPOS) or Task Supervisor (TS) for safety during inspections. Acting as a Bridge Strike Examiner for train safety after bridge strikes. On-call duties as required.To be considered for the role, candidates will need: Experience in structural examinations, defect recording, and reporting for various structure types. Be proficient in Microsoft Office. Strong technical report writing skills. Holds a full UK Driving Licence. Familiarity with the railway industry. Competent in STE4 and STE5. PTS and RPOS/TS certified. Bridge strike examiner certified. HNC in Civil Engineering or related field. Proficient in SCMI and TCMI.
