We are currently recruiting for a ground and facilities operative for our Salads Team, based at our site in St Mary Bourne, to be a vital part of our commitment to safety and sustainability. In this role you'll maintain our site facilities and grounds to the highest standards, ensuring safety and enhancing our local habitats. Your workspace will be varied from our chilled factory floors to our spectacular outdoor landscapes, so versatility is key. As a Ground and Facilities Operative your Key Responsibilities will include: Ensuring compliance with all legislation and hygiene procedures. Maintaining site facilities and grounds to maximize safety and local wildlife habitats. Safely operating machinery and conducting building maintenance tasks. Participating in safety communicating activities and support company safety initiatives. Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like: Collaborative and adaptable, with excellent communication skills. Able to work independently or as part of a team, following policies and procedures. Willing to raise concerns through prescribed channels for continuous improvement. Has previous mechanical experience and would be advantageous if has grinding skills too. Desirable certifications include forklift, fire awareness, manual handling, chain saw operation, and lawn care. Department HSE Job title Ground & Facilities Operative Reporting to Facilities & Estates Manager Based at St Mary Bourne Direct reports None Job purpose To maintain site facilities and grounds to a high standard, that will ensure site safety and enhance local habitats. This will involve office hours plus flexibility for evening and weekend work when required. Key responsibilities and accountabilities Employees have a duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by employees’ actions at work. Employees must co-operate with employers and co-workers to help everyone meet their legal requirements. ·         To ensure that all practices and procedures carried out on site comply with all legislation ·         To follow all hygiene procedures ·         To carry out duties that maximise quality and quantity of the site facilities/buildings along with the grounds work that maintain local habitats and encourage wildlife ·         To carry out all tasks safely, accurately and consistently ·         To carry out daily site letter picks ·         To carry out regular weed control on the site ·         To carry out building maintenance this will involve other tasks including but not limited to painting & decorating, repairs, drainage. ·         To carry out driving duties such as banksperson ·         To operate machinery safely and accurately and report any equipment and structural faults ·         To carry out basic maintenance and safety checks on grounds equipment ·         Participate in any communication activities through formal and informal channels on safety matters to ensure that there is a free flow of ideas ·         Ensure that the Vitacress safety image is reflected positively through your actions ·         Ensure that you have received the necessary training so that you can competently carry out your duties and responsibilities.  Acknowledge and accept a personal responsibility for safety ·         Take responsibility for reviewing the safe system of work prior to the commencement of the work activity ·         Raise any concerns over Health & Safety breaches in accordance with Company Procedure ·         Company Safety Support – You will be required to work closely with the Company’s Health and Safety team who are available to provide safety advice and support  Furthermore, you will be required to ensure that safety initiatives are implemented within your areas of control Working conditions ·         Chilled factory, office environment and outside Person Specification Experience, skills and competencies ·         Forklift certificated (desirable) ·         Fire awareness (desirable) ·         Manual Handling (desirable) ·         Chain saw operation (desirable) ·         Lawn care (desirable) ·         Mechanical Experience including grinding (desirable) Qualifications See Above Personal attributes ·         Planning & Organisational skills ·         Problem analysis ·         Decision making ·         Judgement ·         Adaptability ·         Teamwork
