Job Title: Electrical Estimator Job Type: Full time Working Hours: Monday-Thursday 8am to 5pm Friday 8am to 4:30pm 44 hours per week Location: Grange House, 19-21 Grange Mount, Birkenhead, Wirral, CH43 4XN Holidays: 33 days including 8 bank holidays Package: Based on experience Electric car salary sacrifice scheme. Team: Pre-Contract Team Reporting to: Managing Director and Electrical Contracts Director Direct Reports: None Job Description The Electrical Estimator will be under the direction of the Directors, and responsible for the pricing and estimation of allocated enquiries. Responsibilities will include control and documentation relating to the designated project, close monitoring of the commercial aspect of any allocated project, ensuring compliance with all HSE legislation, internal policies and procedures relating to safe and efficient delivery of the project. In liaison with Departmental Managers, be responsible for ensuring that all documentation, services, and processes are completed in line with the needs of the business. To be a valuable member of the Athertons team and promote and enforce a safe working environment as per our company standards. Responsibilities * Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator in the M&E sector, with a focus on commercial, educational, and industrial projects. * Proficiency in estimation software and strong analytical skills. * Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. * Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry best practices. * Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. * Strong organisational and time management skills. Meetings and Estimating 1. Lead Tender settlement and Project Handover meetings with contracts manager for any secured contract. 2. Site survey of potential M&E Projects, including layout design, quotation, and Client Liaison. 3. Management of day-to-day estimating enquiries, preparation of detailed take-offs including queries from client requirements, safety, quality, supplier performance and improvement. 4. Follow up on submitted tenders and ensure a log of communications and revisions is kept on file. 5. Project cost analysis, appraisal, and budgeting 6. Complete value engineering if required 7. Monitoring working practices, budgets, and reporting lack of compliance. 8. Deliver quality service to the client ensuring that performance standards & contractual KPIs and SLAs are met 9. Project Forecasting and scenario planning. Business Overview We are Athertons; a 43-year-old Mechanical Electrical, Plumbing business with ambitious growth plans. Based in the Wirral, we will be moving premises to adapt to 50% growth in our workforce and doubling the size of our project and client base in the past 2.5 years. We are evolving through both strategic growth, mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships. As we grow and diversify, creating jobs and opportunities for collaboration, our business requires additional ground staff support. This role is pivotal to the growth of the organisation. There is scope for this candidate to grow with the business and there are plenty of opportunities to progress and take on more responsibility. The candidate must be local to the area as this is an office-based job. Essential Requirements 1. A minimum of at 5 years estimating electrical work in a commercial setting 2. You must be comfortable handling large amounts of data and working collaboratively across departments. 3. Strong organisation skills 4. Strong electrical knowledge base 5. Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc). 6. Detail-oriented and analytical. 7. AutoCAD experience Highly Desirable Requirements 1. Basic Electrical knowledge in order to better prepare for compliant estimates 2. HNC Building Services 3. APM qualification 4. IOSH/NEBOSH 5. Knowledge and Experience of Estimating software platforms 6. Design Experience As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for: * Project Analysis: Conducting thorough analysis of project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to determine the scope of electrical works. * Estimation: Accurately estimating the cost of electrical components and labour required for commercial, educational, and industrial projects. * Tender Preparation: Preparing comprehensive and competitive bids in collaboration with the project management and engineering teams. * Cost Management: Monitoring and managing project costs throughout the estimation process, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints. * Supplier Negotiation: Collaborating with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes and negotiate favourable terms. * Risk Assessment: Identifying and assessing potential risks associated with electrical projects and proposing mitigation strategies. * Client Interaction: Engaging with clients to understand their requirements, providing clarification on estimates, and building strong relationships. * Continuous Improvement: Staying updated on industry trends, material costs, and construction methodologies to enhance the accuracy of estimations. * Analysing company data, exchange rates and prices using software packages. Preparing and submitting quotations for work. Helping with bids for new contracts and supporting buying activities. Monitoring the stages of a project to make sure that costs are kept in line with forecasts
