MACHINE SHOP MANAGER Precision Engineered Components – Naval & Industrial Applications Competitive Salary - Cardiff Originating in 1879, this UK PLC with a turnover approaching £250 million and in excess of 1,800 employees, is recognised as a global market leader for delivering technical solutions to OEM’s, end-users and appointed distributor channels. The company manufacture critical components for torque transmission equipment used in drivetrain applications within Naval & Marine Propulsion, Oil & Gas, Mineral Extraction, Mass Transit and Metal Processing Sectors. Role * Maximise efficiency of shift by ensuring all planned machines are run and lost time activities in production are minimised – to include performance management of CNC Operators to ensure actual hours booked are maximised. * Create, maintain and implement training plan for all CNC Operators to develop skills and ensure the workforce is flexible to achieve production plans and maximise efficiency. * Drive and own continuous improvement projects in production to achieve operational improvements including increased throughput and reduced scrap. * Lead a safety-first culture in production, setting and maintaining the highest level of housekeeping standards. * Completion of near miss and accident investigations to ensure H&S compliance with legal and Group requirements. You * Driver of constant customer focus on shop floor, ensuring key actions are followed up on in production and other areas to ensure customer expectations are met as a minimum. * Accept responsibility for achievement of KPI targets for production, including but not limited to near misses & accidents, production efficiency, schedule adherence and OTIF. * Ownership of IRMS actions for shop floor, ensuring all actions are closed out in a timely manner. * Management of production operating costs to budget and forecast, including labour,consumables, and scrap costs. * Delivery of site Operations Strategy in conjunction with Operations Manager. * Welcome the prospect of working within a team supporting best practice culture, whilst striving for notable customer service levels.
