Victim Liaison Officer


RSR Public Safety are currently recruiting for a Victim Liaison Officers for a Government Department paying £18 per hour. Job Summary: The victim liaison officer will have the responsibility of being a dedicated single point of contact (SPOC) for victims and witnesses to provide a professional, consistent and seamless end to end support service, from the first point of contact through to the conclusion of the investigation and subsequent prosecution and sentencing. To have governance over own caseloads and effectively communicate with, influence, monitor and manage victims and witnesses for Court Martial and Summary Hearing. Facilitate liaison and be a dedicated contact between victims and witnesses, police, the Service Prosecution Authority (SPA) and support agencies, to promote and support effective trials. Provide enhanced support for vulnerable victims of crime in accordance with the Victims code of practice (VCOP), providing continued telephone support, and be responsible for determining, signposting and referring to the relevant support agency as required. Location: Portsmouth, office based Contract: Until March 2025, likely ongoing 12-month extensions after. Salary: £18 per hour PAYE, plus 33 days annual leave Vacancies: 3 Vetting: Must either have or go through Security Clearance. Main duties and responsibilities * Case Management * Vulnerability Support * Liaison with Victims and witnesses * Liaison with internal/external partners * Partnership Working * Maintaining knowledge/Training * Victims Code compliance * Understanding and use of IT Systems * Disclosure Person Specification Experience: * Previous administrative experience working in a customer services environment * Previous experience of the judicial system/police environment * Experience of dealing directly with the public * Experience of working with vulnerability Skills: * Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel * Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written; contacts with both internal and external agencies e.g. – Internal staff at all levels of the organisation, victims, witnesses, service prosecution, probation and court staff * Excellent interpersonal skills – approachable, tactful, empathetic, diplomatic and a sympathetic and listening telephone manner * Excellent Customer Service Skills * Ability to deal with conflict and vulnerable/distressed callers * Ability to adapt to change of the working environment and working practices, and ability and willingness to keep abreast of changes in legislation and Force policies and procedures * Able to use own initiative to resolve problems * A good aptitude, ability and familiarity with computer systems in order to utilise them in the gathering of information * Ability to input data and produce reports using a computer * Desirable – Driving License Knowledge: * Knowledge of the Victims Code of Practice (VCOP) and how it can be applied * Basic knowledge of the Criminal / Service Justice Environment * General awareness of the Criminal / Service Justice system If you would like to be considered for this position and have the relevant experience, then please email your CV to rsr-london@rsg.ltd Due to the high volume of applications received, if you do not hear from us within 7 working days, I am afraid your application has been unsuccessful.
