Business Development Manager


Business Development Manager Leicestershire – hybrid (1 day a month) C£55,000p.a. + Company Car/Allowance * Are you an experienced sales professional with a proven track record of hunting new business? * Do you have experience working in the industrial consumable market? * Do you want to work for a well-established company who are supportive and want to see you excel? The Company: ER Recruitment are excited to be working with our client, who are an innovative, distinctive organisation who distribute their products globally and have sites based in Leicester. They are now looking for a Business Development Manager who is customer focussed with strong communication skills and has worked in the industrial consumable sector. Role & Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager: * Attend relevant trade exhibitions and networking events to identify leads. * Identify new target customers and, along with customers identified by marketing activity, create an effective plan on who, when and how to target these. * Work closely with the Commercial Manager to agree target customers to approach, products to offer and all terms and conditions to offer. * Use competitor information to make recommendations for growth. * Ensure companywide awareness of the new business development plans, target accounts and when first orders will be arriving. * Seek face to face appointments with target customers in order to complete full qualification. * Work with the marketing department, to develop and implement strategies and marketing collateral to convert those target prospects into customers. * Fully understand the new customer requirements before making any offers, paying particular attention to any non-standard requests, making sure that they are fully evaluated through the Customer Service team. * Closely monitor new customers ensuring customer satisfaction and on track performance. Assist in finding solutions where any customer disputes arise. * Ensure that any risks to new customer plans are reported with recommendations for mitigating risk. * Prepare sales forecasts and obtain these from new customers and discuss accuracy with them while also reporting performance to forecast to relevant departments. * Update and report on KPIs as agreed and to act when performance is lower than required. * Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports as requested * Work with line manager and Account Managers to determine when a new customer can be handed over and ensure a seamless handover process. About You as the Business Development Manager: * Experience in selling industrial consumables through distribution channels. * Proven track record with demonstrable new business wins. * Excellent communicator able to define customer needs and convey company objectives. * Excellent negotiator and objection handler. * Thrive in a competitive success driven environment. * Creative thinker able to adapt style to suit the target customer. * Persistent and tenacious, focused on winning new business. * Excellent pitching skills. * Good organisational skill and attention to detail. * Computer literate and numerate.
