ASSOCIATE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER LONDON £75,000 Our client, a visionary multidisciplinary structural and civil engineering practice continue to go from strength to strength and expand their exceptional group. Their work varies across the commercial, educational and residential markets with an international interest too on some highly desirable projects. This has led to the need to appoint an Associate to their group who will play a key role in their business being representative of the culture and approach to work communicated by the Directors through the Business Policies and Vision and Values. The key purpose of this role is to lead a team of engineers to deliver innovative structural engineering designs on all projects and other activities that meets and surpasses the expectations of the Director(s), architects, and clients in relation to: innovative, sustainable and intelligent design; fee and client budgetary constraints; and project programme/in house time-based targets. The role will involve: - To display always strong leadership qualities in the management of teams. - Raising the profile of the company in line with the Business Policies and Vision and Values and to seek new opportunities for work. - Financial and Resource Management of Projects designated to you. - Review and process Agreements and Contracts in conjunction with a Director. - Develop and implement sub-strategies in areas of the Company Matrix where designated to you. - Manage team members effectively and oversee the time management of team members on projects. Recognise that the company has signed the IStructE Engineers declaration on the climate and biodiversity emergency and that you will assist in strengthening their working practices to create structural and civil engineering outcomes that have a more positive impact on the world around us by adopting the IStructE guidance on our approach to design. For your part you will be part of a team that works in a professional manner, applying your skills effectively and competently. Their approach is one of working pro-actively and enthusiastically with colleagues both in the company and from external organisations. You will adopt the ‘team-working’ ethic of the company. Duties Design of structures to appropriate statutory requirements and guidance from relevant Codes of Practice, Technical Notes, etc. Preparation of appropriate documents, calculations, specifications and sketches in line with the company Procedural Manuals suitable for all stages of the project from concept to Building Control submission and approval. Liaise with BIM Technicians as appropriate to enable them to prepare suitable drawings for the relevant stage of the project. Carry out building surveys. Attend meetings where appropriate. Visit site to evaluate constraints on and/or progress of construction and that the constructed works reflect the design intent on the company`s drawings. Prepare suitable Reports as required. Attend training or technical seminars where demonstrated to be beneficial to both you and the business. Carry out annual appraisals of employees under your management. Provide guidance and support to Graduate and Project Engineers. You will endeavour to enhance the reputation and contribute to the success of the business by applying yourself in the following areas: Pursuing work opportunities with existing or new clients. Preparation of fee proposals in connection with projects. General business activities where appropriate. Drive the implementation, development, improvement, and continual certification of the company`s QEMS system. In return you can expect a hugely attractive salary and benefits package.
