Principal EC&I Engineer


Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a number of Principal EC&I Engineers to be based in either Warrington, Cumbria, or Preston with remote working on a long-term contract basis. Your Day-to-Day: Act as the project's single point of authority and accountability for the EC&I engineering discipline Dependent on project scope, lead a multi-disciplined engineering team reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the clients responsible engineering team. Responsible for the development key design deliverables such as Block Cable Diagrams, Schematics, Cable Schedules and General Arrangements. Checking and Approval of cable calculations by hand or in Amtech and lighting calculations in Dialux/Relux. Ensure that design deliverables are of a high standard and compliant with relevant standards, regulations and customer specific standards. Ensuring that design consultants and sub-contractors deploy suitably qualified and experienced personnel. Production of documentation that is technically accurate, grammatically correct, correctly formatted and professionally presented Preparing and reviewing quality plans for multi or single discipline work packages Ensure work delivered is within the defined scope and completed to time and budget. Manage resolutions to technical issues and ensure necessary change control is implemented and address commercial impacts. Ensure designs are compliant with CDM regulations and have designer responsibility under CDM Present EC&I engineering designs to clients and key stakeholders who may be discipline experts or non-discipline related. Present technical solutions at design reviews and HAZOPs Production and checking of safety related documents such as Hazard Management Strategy and Engineering Substantiation / Justifications Report. Develop estimates, define deliverables, clarify scope/exclusions and develop programme logic at bid / tender stages. Mentor a team of engineers/designers to improve their own skill sets and enhance the company's capabilities Develop and manage/maintain good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organisations Who You Are: As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team: At least 8+ years' experience in industry at least 3 years at Senior Engineer level Ideally 5+ years in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sector Must be legally eligible to work in the UK Bachelor's degree or higher Chartered Member of the IET Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes and directives and how they should be applied Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques of EC&I design Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products / plant and equipment Experience of design in accordance with the IET 18th edition (BS7671)Why We're Different: Westlakes Recruit are a people solutions business that understands the complexities of nuclear and the importance of our clients' mission critical objectives.
