Business Development Manager


Purpose of the role: - To identify, win and develop new business revenue streams in Road - Domestic/European pallet distribution, storage, fulfilment & solution services. Based in the Midlands , covering the South and the Midlands Responsibilities: - Ensure new business is won in line with budget expectations through proactive management of the sales process. - Stimulate, grow and maintain a Corporate Sales pipeline. - Work closely with Operations and follow a formal handover procedure to the Key Account Manager's to deliver smooth implementation of new business. - Establish compliance with the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and provide accurate data, manage and update the sales pipeline including any movements in the pipeline and its implications on budgets / forecasts. - Develop & utilise prescribed sales leads, including sales letters, e-mails, e-shots, LinkedIn, Exhibitions & CRM. - Support Palletways marketing activities through specific sales activity, follow up, communication, administration and feedback. - Devise marketing initiatives with the Marketing Manager & Business Development Director to promote business development & new business wins. - Monitor market conditions, development potential and competitor activity and report back to the business accordingly. Key work activities: - Win new profitable business for your designated region (minimum target of 21.5k pallets per annum). - Reporting, budgeting and forecasts. Submit an accurate forecast and performance profile for the Business Development Director with a clear overview of wins and losses. Core skills required: - Extensive direct sales experience, both in terms of new business development and key account management. - Competency in Microsoft office, LinkedIn and Microsoft Dynamics CRM or related CRM system or sales lead tools. Core knowledge required: - Transportation business (mainly pallet distribution) OR Logistics/supply chain/parcel background. - Minimum selling experience 3 years of NEW Business selling UK Pallet Distribution or Parcels at a high level - Experience of selling >£100k contracts per annum. - Understanding of CRM/Sales cycle process & the method of "selling a solution". - P&L / Budgeting / Forecasting knowledge
