Signalling Technician


Job Title: Signalling Technician Location: Gosforth Salary: Circa £35,420 per annum Benefits: * Defined benefit pension scheme, * Free local travel * Access to a range of employee benefits including high street discounts, occupational health services, and a Cycle to Work Scheme. Key Responsibilities for Signalling Technician: Fault Response: * Assist in testing, fault finding, and rectification of signalling and associated systems. * Undertake signal maintenance testing and initial investigation of operational incidents. * Lead fault rectification of Point Heater Systems. Planned Maintenance: * Perform planned preventative maintenance of signalling and associated equipment. * Ensure functionality of point heating equipment between October and April. Installation: * Undertake installation work for new, renewed, and modified signalling systems. * Lead installation of point heating equipment. * Refurbish and repair equipment, including re-testing. * Lead refurbishment and repairs of Point Heating equipment. Technical Compliance: * Ensure compliance with Group Technical Standards and procedures. Health & Safety: * Adhere to company's Health & Safety Policy and procedures. Administration: * Complete documentation associated with fault finding, maintenance, and installation. * Utilise group maintenance manager system for information management. Undertake Minor Renewals: * Perform minor renewal duties within the Signalling & Point Care Asset Management portfolio. Essential for Signalling Technician: * Level 3 qualification or apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering. * Experience in fault finding in Electrical & Mechanical systems. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills. * Excellent computer literacy skills. * Hold a current UK driving licence. Desirable for Signalling Technician: * Recognised Electrical Installation qualification or equivalent Railway Industry knowledge. * Previous experience in Railway Signalling or equivalent Industry vocational skills. * Knowledge of Railway Signalling Standards. * Experience of working altering shift patterns. * Experience of Computer Asset Management Systems. * Health & Safety Qualification at IOSH level or commitment to work towards one. * Certified competence in Nexus Safety Critical Competence of Worksite Controller
