Principal Structural Engineer


Principal Structural Engineer £60,000 - £68,000 plus benefits Wythenshawe, Manchester. A UK-wide Engineering Consultancy based in Wythenshawe, South Manchester, are actively looking to recruit a Chartered Principal Structural Engineer with at least 10 years' experience in Structural Design to join their current team working on a range of Industrial and Rail projects. The company have offices in England, Scotland and Wales and are ideally looking for someone to join the team of 6 staff in Manchester working on both new-build and retrofit schemes on a host of civil infrastructure works and also getting involved in fatigue analysis, temporary works and traditional structural design. The ideal Principal Structural Engineer will have: Professional Certification: Hold a recognized professional engineering license (e.g., Chartered Engineer status with the Institution of Structural Engineers) or be actively working towards obtaining such credentials. Professional Experience: Possess a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in structural engineering, with a focus on delivering projects of varying complexity and scale. Structural Design Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in structural analysis, design, and detailing across a range of building types and materials, including steel, concrete, and timber. Project Management Skills: Exhibit strong project management capabilities, including the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage project budgets and schedules, and ensure successful project delivery. Technical Proficiency: Have a deep understanding of relevant engineering software and tools, such as ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, and AutoCAD, to efficiently analyze and design structural systems. Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of current building codes, regulations, and industry standards, ensuring that all structural designs comply with applicable requirements and guidelines. Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to clients, stakeholders, and project team members. Leadership Abilities: Demonstrate leadership qualities, including the ability to mentor and coach junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and foster a collaborative and supportive work environment. Problem-Solving Aptitude: Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify structural challenges, propose innovative solutions, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle. Continuing Education: Maintain a commitment to professional development by staying informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the field of structural engineering. The salary bracket for the role will be between £60,000 and £68,000 plus benefits and precise salary offered will of course depend on experience and each candidate's ability to meet the criteria for the role.
