Business Development Manager


Title: Business Development Manager- Hire Location: London East -Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, East Sussex, and London (North East / South East / East) such as Barnet, Enfield, Romford, Bromley, Croydon. Package: Up to £55,000 dependent on experience, plus car allowance and commission. Overview: The Business Development Manager – Hire, is a results-driven healthcare specialist sales professional with a strong passion for business development, client understanding, and order achievement, while maintaining a focus on delivering excellent customer service. Operating within the ‘London East’ region, the primary responsibility is to cultivate relationships with key decision-makers in the healthcare sector, with an emphasis on promoting our value proposition, specifically around our hire solutions, encompassing the full range of products and services we offer. The role will also be responsible for the sale of buildings up to c.£1m. The role is target-oriented, with a primary focus on order-winning activities. Reporting to the Business Development Director, collaboration with a Business Development Manager – Major Projects and Regional Coordinator, and the wider regional teams is integral to the position. Effective communication and teamwork with internal and external stakeholders, from project inception to completion, are crucial. The role involves working with both new and existing clients to explore building hire growth opportunities across the region. Activities include prospecting activities, opportunity qualification, strategic planning, stakeholder management, NHS and private sector stakeholder mapping, and regional account planning, individually and as part of the wider Sales team. This is a field-based, client facing role with occasional office presence required. The ideal candidate shall hold a full, clean driving licence. Key Accountabilities and Expectations: * Accountable for achieving targets in a designated catchment area, encompassing contract value, order numbers, visits, and other commercial KPIs. * Building a regional sales strategy and pipeline by conducting structured business development and prospecting to develop new relationships, while maintaining regular contact with existing customers to ensure maximum satisfaction and business continuity. * Developing strong customer relationships through effective communication, resulting in repeat, continued, or new opportunities and orders. * Presenting budgets, design proposals, programmes etc, and giving the customer confidence in every interaction. * Engaging in face-to-face meetings with clients throughout the sales cycle, emphasising personal interactions and prioritising physical in-person meetings to fully understand client needs. Uses these interactions uncover future requirements and seek referral opportunities. * Working as a team ensure that accurate and comprehensive information to support the preparation of quotations and drawings aligned with customer requirements. * Actively promotes and utilises the full range of products and services offered by the Building Services and value-added fit-out and services to maximises contract value for every opportunity. * Fully supports a team-selling approach by collaborating across multiple internal functions and liaises with relevant operational teams regarding building availability, refurbishment, fitting out, deliveries, rectifications, and terminations. Experience and competencies required: * A customer centric Sales professional who is passionate and committed to building lasting relationships by delivering an exceptional customer experience, ideally with experience of winning projects in the Healthcare sector with the NHS and private organisations. * Possessing strong sales and negotiation skills with a thorough understanding of the sales process in both the public and private sectors. * Possessing a proven track record of success and motivated to achieve and exceed business development targets, with a focus on measurable results and key performance indicators. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and proposals clearly. * Strategic mindset to identify and pursue new business opportunities, and able to analyse market trends and competitor activities, with the capacity to develop and implement effective business development strategies. * Strong networking skills to establish and maintain valuable connections. Comfortable attending events and conferences to promote Darwin Group and expand professional networks with key decision makers and influencers. * A team player with a desire to and ability to collaborate effectively with internal colleagues, such as marketing, bid, design and operational teams with a willingness to contribute to a positive and collaborative work culture.
