Design Manager


The Company Our client is a long established and award-winning main contractor who work across multiple sectors including education, healthcare, residential, commercial and industrial. The company is a market leader in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and due to multiple project wins are in the market for a new Design Manager. The Role Design Manager coordinating all of the design work required during construction projects (£1m to £15m). The successful candidate will also manage the production of technical drawings and plans used for the build process. Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications As the Design Manager, you must possess the following; A Qualification in Building Engineering / Construction / Architecture 5 years' experience working within a Design Manager position A Minimum 10 years construction / engineering experience with a main contractor Extensive understanding of the construction process from pre-construction/tender stages through to delivery and handover Excellent understanding of BREEAM and Value Engineering principles Proven experience in delivering design services and successful record of implementing design strategies Experience within the most current forms of procurement Operational knowledge of BIM requirements and the ability to promote the importance of its implementation. Duties Overseeing data, bid deliverables and reports within both the constraints of the contract and internal commercial objectives Advising the design and construction team in regards to buildability of the design proposals Briefing of the Design Team including MEP elements, management of any 3rd party's sub-contractor CDP elements or novated design teams Leading design deliverable schedules for each design discipline, coordinating with procurement and construction programmes Compiling Contractors proposals for contract Agreeing appointments and scope of services of the Design Team Briefing of internal staff members such as Design Managers, Assistants, Coordinators, and Document Controllers Liaising with design team and third parties such as statutory authorities, (e.g., Town Planning, Building Control, Utilities, etc.), managing submittal requirements to Client representatives Reporting progress against Information Required Schedule and Design ProgrammeThis is a Permanent position with a competitive salary (£55,000 - £60,000 + Package) on offer for the successful candidate.
