We have an excellent opportunity for a flexible and professional team player to join the busy Estates and Facilities Department, as a Steel Fabricator.

Position: 1390 Steel Fabricator

Location: Honiton, Devon an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours. 07.30-16.00, Monday-Friday

Salary: GBP31,100 per annum

Contract: 12 month fixed term contract

Closing Date: Sunday 21 April 2024

The Role

As a Steel Fabricator, you will assist with the fabrication and installation of steelwork throughout the Sanctuary, ensuring all work is completed to a high quality and meets the necessary requirements and standards.

Your principal duties and responsibilities will include

  • Ensuring welding tasks (use of mig and arc welding) are carried out to a high quality standard.
  • Fabricating structural steelwork, e.g. portal frames, etc.
  • Fabricating fixtures and fittings, e.g. stabling, gates, doors, covers, gratings, shelter bases etc.
  • Reviewing blueprints, fabrication drawings or other instructions to determine material requirements and operational methods.
  • Assisting with the installation of steelwork, including levelling and setting out installations.
  • Planning, organising and prioritising work and estimate quantities needed.
  • Planning, laying out and examining metal stock and workpieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met and signing delivery notes when required.
  • Driving plant machinery, including fork lift, telehandler, powered access, flatbed lorry (CPC).

About You

You will have a City & Guilds qualification/NVQ in fabrication and welding and/or relevant steel fabrication experience.

You will also have:

  • Experience of mig and arc welding.
  • Experience of installing steelwork, including levelling and setting out Installations.
  • Experience of interpreting blue prints and fabrication drawings.
  • Good organisational skills with experience of working on a variety of projects.
  • Able to work unsupervised and as part of team.
  • Full valid driving licence.
