Workshop Manager


Dawson Levy Resourcing currently have a great opportunity for a Workshop Manager to join a key client of ours on a permanent basis in Dover. Job Title: Workshop Manager Reporting To: Commercial Director Reportable Staff: 4 off Workshop Staff (Machinist & Mechanical Fitters) 1 off Office Staff (Operations Co- Ordinator / Administrator) Responsibilities and Job Tasks: To look after the company's two workshops at Dover, managing the workshop quality, processes, workshop reportable staff and work stream through both workshops. To always ensure that the company meets its requirements and objectives within the policies and procedures for health & safety, quality, and the environment etc. To ensure workshop jobs are booked in, fully tested upon arrival, cleaned, dismantled and inspected to a high standard (including the compile and issue of photographic inspection reports - example can be provided upon request) Manage all workshop jobs and activities, ensuring high standards of quality, health and safety and that the company operates in line with its Integrated Management System and ISO Accreditations (ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001) Ensure the company processes are followed from workshop receipt through to workshop completion, as per the company's process flow charts and quality procedures Liaise with suppliers (and possibly sub-contractors) to produce all pricing for the workshop jobs, including company man hours, and produce / issue a 'Pricing Matrix' for Director approval Full workshop P&L responsibilities for all workshop jobs and activities, including managing any non- productive labour Manage jobs / process for clean water jobs (potable water) and waste water jobs (sewerage water), to include workshop and tooling segregation and disinfection Manage all building maintenance and building upgrades from both a planned and reactive perspective, including but not limited to, fire evacuation testing, call point testing etc On receipt of client purchase orders (or WIP jobs approved by Directors) place orders with suppliers (and possibly sub-contractors), ensuring costs have been covered within the job costings (pricing matrix) Advantageous but not essential, to be able to create AutoCAD drawings for all machining of manufactured components, specifying material selections, dimensions and tolerances With line management duties of the Operations Co-Ordinator / Administrator, to oversee the office staff responsibilities including, but not limited to: COSHH products management (ensuring used products are re-ordered and any new COSHH products are added to the companies COSHH register along with the product data sheets), goods in / out, stock holdings, staff training, equipment / Tooling calibration, vehicle servicing management, PPE and clothing etc With line management duties of the Machinist and Mechanical Fitters, to oversee the workshop staff responsibilities including, but not limited to: testing equipment, photographing equipment, dismantling equipment, measuring tolerances, identifying wear / repair requirements, machining specification / dimensions, rebuild of equipment (following British Standards and Mechanical fitting skills, testing of equipment etc Package: The following package depends on experience and skillset of candidate. £ 45k to £ 50k per annum 25 days annual leave, excluding Bank Holidays Sick Pay (up to 12 weeks full pay) Private Healthcare, including partner and children Company laptop Company mobile phone
