Customer Service Coordinator


The Role

At Saint-Gobain PAM we are looking for a customer focused individual to join us as a Customer Service Coordinator, in order to provide support to our team in Ilkeston.

Saint-Gobain PAM is the premier supplier of ductile iron products to the UK's key utilities, telecoms, highways, civil engineering and construction companies.

This role will be fully office based whilst training in the role. Once you are fully competent in the role Hybrid working is available.

The working hours for this role are :

Monday to Friday 8.30 to 4.30 but on a rotating basis occasionally 9.00 to 5.00

What you will be doing:

You would be the dedicated Customer Service contact for some of our utility and contractor customers and be responsible for managing a range of different orders and deliveries including some high value complex projects. Alongside the usual Customer Service activities of responding promptly to customer queries and remaining flexible with your workload to adapt quickly to changing priorities, some of your key responsibilities will include:-

  • Proactively chasing customer delivery schedules and any additional information we need to ensure a successful delivery.
  • Agreeing and managing customer delivery call-offs to ensure cost-effective customer-focused delivery solutions.
  • Attending fortnightly meetings to report on the orders you are managing along with your proposals about suitable next steps if there is potential slippage on agreed delivery lead-times.
  • Producing customer order book reports as required and being able to interpret detailed information provided by our sales team and our customers to make the changes required to their orders.
  • Understanding the impact of making changes to customer orders and communicating effectively internally to ensure that by meeting our customers' needs we're not adding cost to the business.
  • Attending customer meetings (virtual and in person as required) to understand their requirements, present updates on their outstanding order book and agree mutually convenient delivery schedules.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a customer-focused and proactive person who enjoys working as part of a team, whilst also being able to manage your own workload. Previous experience in a customer facing role (in person or by telephone) would be preferable but is not essential.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including listening and questioning.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly to meet changing priorities and deadlines in an unpredictable and reactive environment.
  • A level of resilience is required in order to be able to deal with unhappy customers in a professional manner, remaining patience and empathetic.
  • Negotiation skills and the ability to resolve conflict
  • A natural desire to help people and provide a first class customer experience at all times.
  • An enthusiastic approach to work and a positive attitude.
  • Driven to seek improvements in the way that we work, to suggest new ideas and to influence colleagues to help implement new initiatives
