Building Safety Consultant - Associate Director


Position: Building Safety Associate Director (with routes to Director) Location: London / South East A leading construction consultancy with a fantastic culture is newly seeking an experienced Building Control Surveyor to join their well-established Building Safety department, as part of their growing Southern Team. You will be leveraging your Building Control expertise, delivering Principal Designer services to help duty holders ensure building regulation compliance in a wide variety of interesting projects. With an established Building Safety service currently led by Building Control HRB (higher-risk buildings) experts, this business is renowned for their involvement in some of the UK’s most high-profile projects on behalf of Tier 1 designers and contractors (projects include multiple over 70 storeys, £1bn+ schemes, airports, football stadia, prisons etc.). The London team has attracted some great talent in recent history and following a growing reputation, is now ready for a local lead on steer head their Southern Building Safety operation. You will be leading on some exciting projects including a nearly £1bn project including towers at 60 storeys, 40 storey office building attached to a listed building, prisons, universities etc. The teams success sets them up well for rapid growth, so there is realistic opportunity for routes to Director in the near future. The Role This opportunity is for individuals at varying levels, from Building Safety Surveyor to Associate Director, with routes to Director where applicable, to join a dynamic and supportive team (suited to Building Control Surveyor’s with 5+ years’ experience with plenty Commercial project exposure). You will be adding valuable building regulations expertise and enhancing the team’s delivery capacity, whilst utilising your client relationship skills to support the team’s growth. Although the team has an established and successful Building Safety service, your expertise will be valuable in working closely with existing clients to improve and implement compliance processes, and further develop a seamless strategy. Your time will not be absorbed by small domestic projects, and you will not be performing a regulatory role, allowing you the freedom to focus on value added tasks to positively influence both your clients and your career. This business’s focus is not just about achieving compliance, but offering complete solutions and moving into best practice, positioning themselves as a ‘boutique advisor’ that adds substantial long-term value to Tier 1 designers/contractors. Key Responsibilities: · Collaborate with major architects and Tier 1 contractors to ensure Building Regulations and legislation compliance. · Provide strategic compliance advice and support throughout all stages of project delivery. · Implement strategic compliance processes and help develop quality assurance systems. · Alongside existing Building Safety leads, sit in on client meetings as a crucial member of their design team. · Contribute to the growth and development of the in-house department by mentoring junior team members. Person Specification: · Extensive commercial project exposure with a Building Control Surveying capacity. · Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and uphold the company's values. · Full or partial membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS, CABE, or CIOB (preferred but not essential). · RBI Class 3H preferred but not essential · Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive client relationships. · Confident, self-motivated, ambitious, and proactive attitude.
