Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Engineer required to join a leading electrical supplier of generators and critical power equipment based near Portsmouth. The Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Engineer will be completing mechanical design and project requirements to ensure they are achieved and delivered for critical power works at customer sites. The successful Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Engineer will ideally have a mechanical design background preferably in product development environment. 3D CAD is essential working knowledge of SolidWorks or AutoCAD would be preferable. Package £38,000 - £43,000 Dependent on Experience 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) Training provided and upskilling opportunities Health and well-being benefits Pension Responsibilities include: To develop and produce complete mechanical designs for electrical power applications. To generate engineering designs and their corresponding documents—including drawings, calculations, and reports. To utilise key design software packages, such as SolidWorks and CAD / Autocad To advance small and medium-sized engineering initiatives, as assigned, or collaborate within a team on larger-scale projects. To collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Electrical Engineers, Project Engineers and Project Managers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components. To develop full-scale design/project plans with associated drawings, documents, test certificates and OEM manuals. To identify resources required for the design and project build and assist Sales with technical input to facilitate accurate quotations and detailed design specifications.Requirements include: Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Project Engineer (design experience), Mechanical Engineer, Draughtsman or similar. Proven experience using SolidWorks and CAD / Autocad Experience in machine design packages, engines, acoustic enclosures and exhaust systems would be preferred. Excellent mechanical engineering knowledge – a technical mechanical qualification, apprentice trained, HNC, HND or Degree in mechanical engineering would be advantageous.
