Job Title: Kitchen Assistant Location: Onsite Employer: Pertemps Recruitment Partnership for Harrow Council Contract Type: Temporary Assignment Hours of Work: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday Overview of a Kitchen Assistant: Pertemps have an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Kitchen Assistant to join an expanding team. The role of a Kitchen Assistant a competitive pay rate of £13.46per hour, increasing in line with Harrow Council Pay Scale increments. Other benefits include, accruing up to 28 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays) and the opportunity to apply for any internal permanent roles within Harrow Council. The Main Purpose of a Kitchen Assistant: To work as part of a team, to provide an efficient and flexible service to meet customer needs. To assist in the provision of menus for the catering service, including the preparation, cooking and service of food. To ensure equipment, kitchen and dining areas are cleaned as required to always achieve high standard of cleanliness. To assist in the ordering and stock control for the department, including checking deliveries. To assist with legislative checks. To assist with the compliance of health and safety policies. To assist with the maintenance of food safety standards. To encourage good customer relations. To operate tills and handle cash and card transactions. To use equipment and facilities appropriately. To report any issues to chef manager or the senior catering assistance. To work evening and weekends as and when required. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility for the post. About you, the successful Kitchen Assistant will have: Understanding of basic food hygiene practices Basic knowledge of Health and Safety Customer service experience Working in a busy kitchen/restaurant environment Ability to carry out basic food hygiene preparation tasks.
