About the role As a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering you will facilitate a positive learning environment to our Gen2 students. The role of Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering Technology is to encourage all learners to achieve their full potential, through the development, delivery and assessment of relevant resources. The role would be involved in the delivery of subject areas to meet the current and emerging skills demand associated with higher level mechanical engineering qualifications supporting learners throughout their course. To that end, the company is seeking to appoint a high-calibre engineer who wishes to pursue a career in training and education and help develop and enhance the curriculum to enable learners to fulfil their full potential. Lecturers are required to support the Higher Education Delivery Manager in the delivery of the department curriculum to the quality and standards required. Gen2 was established in 2000 and specialises in the Engineering, Nuclear, and Manufacturing sectors. In May 2017 Gen2 joined City & Guilds. Gen2 currently operates from 5 training centres across Cumbria and over 150 employees, the vast majority of which are direct delivery staff. Through targeted development of commercial training Gen2 continues to grow its geographic and product portfolio. Gen2 has developed many higher level programmes to meet the needs of industry including the suite of nuclear related technology foundation degrees. The quality of teaching and learning is paramount, resulting in Gen2 success rates typically 20% above the national average. What you will be doing; * Teach and assess the various classes or groups assigned to him/her in accordance with established practice and conditions of service and to have primary responsibility for the conduct and discipline of students within their control. * Develop course material within the concept of the curriculum. * Participate in internal verification and undertake evaluation of courses/programmes and the academic counselling of students. * Participate in curricular development designed to meet the needs of the subject area. * Co-operate in ensuring that centre safety precautions are carried out and safety regulations adhered to. * Maintain expertise by undertaking professional development programmes as required. * Assist with relevant administration as required * Assist with external organisation requirements for the delivery of education programmes and qualifications * Liaise with external organisation representatives, such as awarding bodies and employers, when required About you This role is a rewarding position with some excellent career path opportunities for the right individual. We require the candidate to have relevant and recent experience in industry, research or academic environment as well as a minimum of HND in an engineering discipline, preferably with a mechanical engineering bias. We also require a minimum GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Maths. We are looking for someone with the ability to empower our future engineers and encourage development to achieve high standards. Experience of working with pneumatics and implementation would be a bonus and we would like you to have a PgCert Ed or equivalent or a willingness to attain this. This is a fantastic opportunity that would suit a strong communicator with sound knowledge of mechanical principles. We cannot provide visa sponsorship for this role.
