Specialist Outreach - Cuckooing


Our client is a non-profit organisation working with people to support their health and wellbeing. Established for over 30 years, they have provided services alongside a variety of statutory and voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) colleagues in Surrey and its borders. They believe change is achievable when offered by a flexible, respectful, inclusive and a non-judgemental approach.

They are recruiting for a Specialist Outreach Worke r to work within the Cuckooing and Vulnerable Adults project.

Salary: GBP26 27k per annum, pro rata, dependent on experience
Hours: 21 hours per week

The Cuckooing project works with individuals who have had or are vulnerable to have their homes taken over by others and used to facilitate exploitation.

With a holistic approach you will be working with vulnerable adults in the community, providing them with a brief and intense intervention. You may work within a client s home and or place of safety, to ensure you provide support, and advice, and work with clients to understand what support services they need in their journey for the long term and to help build their resilience and prevent them from being cuckooed in the future. You will use client centred skills to assess, support and refer clients onwards whilst supporting with immediate practical needs.
You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other agencies, including the Police, Social Workers, Housing departments etc to ensure risks are reduced. This role is ideally suited to someone who is curious about safeguarding, likes to work one to one and can balance outreach visits with administrative tasks.

Our ideal applicant will have/be;
  • Ideally you will have a qualification within Health and Social Care or experience / knowledge around this area
  • Non judgemental approach to support work
  • Knowledge around substance mis-use would be an advantage
  • Enthusiastic, with a drive to provide excellent person centred care, support and planning
  • Exposure to assessing and managing risk and safeguarding
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work flexibly
