Principal Electrical Design Engineer (132kV)

Defour Partnership (Engineering) is working closely with a client within the Electrical Engineering sector recruiting for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer specialising in 132Kv. The role You will be overseeing and ensuring all electricity networks are designed in a safe and professional manner and to a high standard in line with DNO/IDNO or private network standards with a focus on major projects up 132kV. * You will be designing and planning electricity distribution networks from LV to 132kV * You will provide technical advice and assistance to other members of staff on all designs up to and including 132kV. * You will produce from schematic diagrams including wiring diagrams, key diagrams, cable layout and schedules and produce Earthing, Protection studies, and cable calculations. * You will be liaising with procurement to ensure supply of goods and services is carried out to DNO/IDNO specification. * You will manage & control design changes with clients, IDNO & construction teams. * You will be liaising with DNO/IDNO’s to discuss designs, design approvals and legals. * You will ensure compliance with Quality Management System, Safety Procedures and G81/BS * You will deliver standards and compliance with P2 Standards of System Security where appropriate. * You will be providing upfront design support including feasibility studies and design work alongside the commercial team to help aid with tendering and sales. * You will carry out pre-construction risk Assessments and impact studies caused by increased fault levels. * You will produce the specifications to allow Turnkey type contracts to be tendered along with full technical appraisal on tender return and the technical specifications for plant and equipment, protection and control equipment and auxiliary equipment such as batteries and LV boards. * You will be providing guidance and support to the wider design team encouraging and supporting development. Requirements * Degree in Engineering or similar * City and guilds qualification * Working towards or achieved professional registration i.e. IET, IEng or EngTech * Experience in the utility industry using Trimble and Windebut * Excellent knowledge within the electrical power distribution industry and its standards, practices and procedures. * Expertise and confident ability to design at voltage levels up to 132kV (LV, 11kV, 33kV, 66kV & 132kV) in the Power Distribution Industry. * Good Knowledge of DNO/IDNO network construction * Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD * Solid understanding of DNO G81 or BS7671 Documentation and Design This would be a great career move if you are looking for a new vibrant modern minded organisation who offer flexible hybrid working and career development opportunities.
