Policy Manager (Security of Supply)


Energy UK collaborate with members, government, the regulator and wider stakeholders to champion a sustainable UK energy industry. Members span across the energy sector, from energy suppliers, and large power generators, to companies providing technologies and services in heat, transport, or power. With the energy sector rapidly changing in the UK, and with more change to come as we look to deliver on UK decarbonisation, this is the most interesting time to work in energy. Murray McIntosh are delighted to once again partner with Energy in search for a policy professional to lead Energy UK's work on the Capacity Market, ancillary services, and the Balancing Mechanism. Reporting to the Deputy Director, this individual would be responsible for leading the organisation's policy development on power markets, taking up Energy UK's seat on the ESO Performance Panel, the ESO's Expert Advisory Group Resource Adequacy and the Capacity Market Advisory Group. Key responsibilities will include: Co-ordinating allocated generation activities across the sector and ensuring Energy UK members are kept up to date with a wide range of core policy and market-related developments Engaging with and convening members and other key stakeholders to gather feedback and insights to influence policy developments Assisting in the preparation of generation papers for the Energy UK Board, Member Committees and other groups and sub-committees as required by the Deputy Director of the team Acting as a representative for the organisation at roundtables, committees and other events You will have: Prior experience in energy policy, with a political understanding of energy more broadly. Knowledge of electricity and gas security of supply would be beneficial Strong awareness for the British politics dynamics, as well as wider global matters which affect the UK energy market Demonstrable stakeholder management experience, with an ability to brief non-expert and expert audiences verbally Excellent analytical and report-writing skills Energy UK operates a hybrid working environment from their office in Central London, meeting as a team when required with a minimum of 2 days a week in the office.
