Principal MBSE Engineer Synoptix is rapidly becoming recognised as one of the UK’s most capable suppliers of systems engineering expertise and know-how. We have built up an enviable customer base in defence and aerospace and are now seeking to extend our presence and influence in the rail and public utility sectors – all of which are showing a growing appetite for the type of rigorous system engineering we advocate. We contribute to some of the foremost engineering projects in the UK, typically supporting large and complex engineering programmes through the application of systems engineering principles. Some of our key projects include support to various submarine programmes, development of adaptive camouflage for the British Army, architectural support on Typhoon and F-35 platforms, and cyber security support to EW systems. Our customers benefit from lean delivery of agile projects, utilising Systems Engineering best practices. Having taken on some exciting new customers and projects of late, we are looking to enhance our internal MBSE capabilities in order to meet growing demand from our customer base. The Role: As a Principal MBSE Engineer at Synoptix you will be helping guide the scope, direction and delivery of engineering projects across our portfolio of customers. As an agile business in the true sense the Principal MBSE Engineer will be given the relative freedom to take ownership at the strategic level of the projects they are involved in. This involves talking to the external stakeholders at a high level within the customer organisation and feeding back to the business within internal engineering management meetings etc. To Synoptix you will be seen as a technical expert for MBSE and will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and help shape their future by passing on your knowledge and experience. Day to day tasking can include: Delivering technical expertise on a variety of internal / customer projects from air to sub-surface Opportunity for technical leadership across projects employing Model Based Systems Engineering. Development of proposals and statements of work Engaging with customer representatives at workshops to identify opportunities, and seeing them through to delivery Attending Synoptix internal management strategy meetings Supporting the development of internal MBSE capability As a growing SME there is an opportunity to join a vibrant and motivated team delivery a high standard of Systems Engineering. Key Skills Required: We are interested in any experience of the following skills but they are not essential for you to apply: Experience with MBSE modelling tools (Sparx Enterprise Architect, Cameo Systems Modeller, Rhapdsody) Architectural Design Experience Experience of architectural frameworks such as MODAF, TOGAF, NAF, SOSAF Experience of modelling languages such as UML, SysML, ArchiMate Systems and Software Architecture experience  Requirements analysis and management Knowledge of systems engineering tools (e.g. DOORS, MATLAB, Simulink, JIRA) Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Engineering or a related field Professional certification in Systems Engineering (ASEP, CSEP) Experience in the Defence industry Prior consultancy experience Benefits: 25 Days holiday excluding bank holidays + option to buy / sell up to 5 days Annual Salary review and company bonus Private health care Flexible working arrangements Bike to work scheme Electric car scheme Job well done scheme Employee Assistance scheme Please note that due to the nature of our projects we can only accept UK National candidates who will need to be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.
