About the Company One of the UK's top 100 construction businesses are looking for a Commercial Manager to join their team. The business operate across the UK and are a leading presence in Energy and Renewables, Rail, Civil Engineering and Highways. This business have been on an exciting journey of growth over the past five years with record profits for 2023. They boast over £1b in secured work and have recently acquired plant and high voltage design and build businesses to bolster in house capability. Within their Energy and Renewables business, they are now keen to recruit a Commercial Manager to oversee a team on major power infrastructure projects. This business work to build and deliver major upgrades on Overhead Power lines, Substations, Battery storage facilities and windfarm connections. About the Role You will take on responsibility for the financial management of a major, complex projects under the Power Transmission umbrella. You will oversee a number of projects from inception, tendering, negotiating and agreeing contracts and then commercially delivering Projects often worth many tens of millions of pounds. You will form an integral part of the senior leadership team, holding key responsibilities associated with the commercial and financial success of each project. As a Commercial Manager, you'll have the following accountabilities; - Provides commercial input to Value Engineering reviews for different forms of construction. Supporting tender reviews, including estimates, cost data and contract reviews. - Manage the preparation of Target Cost for a Project, including the associated risks - Manage the preparation of the monthly CVR and associated commercial reports, reporting into Commercial Director. - Establish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements. Application of legislation and ability to liaise with legal experts - Co-ordination of buying, accounts, production control/planning, supply chain management & procurement techniques, estimating & surveying functions verses & gives advice on training & development including professional - An organised, innovative and creative Senior Commercial Manager with in- depth knowledge and experience of working on Projects and Frameworks - Leading on collating costs and maximising value on a large project or portfolio of projects - Leading on and embedding a mindset within the team of financial and commercial control within a project(s) - Maintain a Personal Development Plan to ensure continuous personal and professional development of your team - Proactively develop, mentor and coach immediate and wider team members to ensure development of talent and succession within the team - Keen interest and experience in infrastructure projects - Proactively manage opportunities, risks and threats What's Required Experienced individuals operating at Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager. You can demonstrate a solid understanding of the full suite of commercial functions at this level, from risk management to procurement, financial reporting and managing the supply chain. Proven skills in commercial awareness, client liaison, project management and team leadership. Track record of managing and developing a commercial team. Excellent NEC knowledge is essential for this role and candidates from a background in Utilities, Civil Engineering, Highways or Rail will be considered for this role.
