Quality & Sustainability Manager


Company Our client is an Irish, family-owned fresh food company established more than 30 years ago who specialise in both traded and value-add fresh food products. They have a number of locations around Munster employing over 60 people with a turnover of around €50 mil. They are a premium end of the market food business leading the way in terms of new modern facilities and GMP standards. The Role The Quality Manager function is to comply with all relevant legislation and the requirements of all their clients. This includes but is not limited to: Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Food Safety, Innovation, Technical Services, Hygiene and Microbiology. The job holder will be directly accountable for the efficient management of these activities according to the standards agreed by the business. As a Sustainability Manager, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing site environmental and sustainability programmes and projects. The job holder will be responsible for protecting at all times, the integrity of the Company through positive and constructive actions and attitude. Responsibilities ‘Quality’ * Implementation of the HACCP Plan and Food Safety & Quality Management system requirements. Administration of Food Safety & Quality Manual. Maintaining BRC AA and Halal accreditation. * Delivering Induction Training to new staff; identifying production staff training needs. Ensuring adherence to the Hygiene Rules by all staff. * Implementation of cleaning schedules and Maintaining the required standards of factory hygiene. Reviewing pest control reports and managing corrective actions arising. * Management of product testing and analysis of results. Review of production records and QCP monitoring. Review of Non-Conformance Report Forms. * Management of and providing information for decision making for non-conforming product. Implementation of any production related preventive or corrective actions. * Guide for internal, regulatory, customer and third party audits. * Implementing methods to inspect, test and evaluate products and production equipment. Ensuring that products adhere to quality standards. Preparing reports by collecting, analysing and summarising data. * Training and managing production line staff in production practices and quality assessment of goods. * Tracking products through the manufacturing process to guarantee that each part of the process is correct. Performing detailed and recorded inspections of final products so the products are up to industry and company standards Responsibilities ‘Sustainability’ As a Sustainability Manager you will need strong interpersonal skills since you will be interacting with a variety of groups, including fellow employees, Accreditation bodies, local government and customers. Critical thinking skills are essential for developing and implementing sustainability initiatives, while taking into account cost savings and project practicality. Sustainability Managers must have the ability to collaborate, as they may be responsible for coordinating efforts among internal departments or external agencies. They will also need to coordinate programs, as well as budget preparation and monitoring. * Maintaining Origin Green and Repak accreditations. * Completing sustainability plans. Conducting site assessments and producing reports on findings. * Initiating renewable energy assessments. Advising on the latest low or zero-carbon technologies. * Organising and chairing meetings. Communicating plans to project teams and senior staff. * Drive continuous improvement, value for money and capture innovation. * To champion sustainability and work to embed sustainability across all company activities. To provide expert advice, developing and implementing policies and procedures in conjunction with promoting sustainability projects. Requirements * Minimum of 2+ years working within a food safety management team. * Experience in a lead sustainability role within an organisation. * Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (BRC, ISO 9000 etc.) * Good knowledge of sustainability issues within the dairy sector. * Working knowledge of certified Environmental Management Systems and accreditations, for example ISO 14001, Origin Green, Repak. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Excellent organisational and leadership skills. * In depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards. * Working knowledge of conducting environmental and system audits. * Ability to use relevant MS packages including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. * Ability to work under pressure and to achieve realistic targets and deadlines. * A keen eye for detail and a results driven approach. * Conscientious and responsible. Remuneration The salary will be in the general range of €50,000 - €65,000 and possibly higher for strong experience.
