Plater ( Day shift )


Wolviston Management Services are proud to be supporting our client, a respected name in the heavy engineering sector, in the recruitment of an experienced Plater to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale structural steel projects within a fast-paced and safety-conscious environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of fabrication practices and the ability to work from detailed engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings to fabricate heavy steel components (5mm 100mm plate)
  • Carry out heat straightening, grinding, and structural plate preparation
  • Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment safely and efficiently
  • Use grinders and consumables in line with HAVS regulations
  • Adhere to all company HSEQ procedures and participate actively in training and development activities
  • Meet production targets and deadlines without compromising safety or quality
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment
  • Support the team with any other duties reasonably required
Requirements:
  • Time-served Plater with NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Plating or Structural Steelwork (trade test required)
  • Proven experience in heavy engineering environments
  • Excellent understanding of plating codes, standards, and best practices
  • Confident in using overhead cranes, slinging, and associated lifting techniques
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team setting
  • Positive attitude and proactive approach to work and safety
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Full understanding of health and safety, with a focus on safe working behaviours
