Configuration and Data Management Engineer


Location: Remote with adhoc visits to Reading when required (minimal)

Duration: 6 month initial contract

Role details:
Our client, a leading provider in defence and security technology, is currently seeking a Configuration and Data Management Engineer (CDME) to join their team on a contract basis. This role is primarily remote, with occasional travel required near Reading. The successful candidate will work within the TTS Mission Area, supporting a training programme with the Royal Navy.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all required contract data is properly identified, scheduled, marked, approved, inspected, submitted, and accepted.
  • Administering the project's Configuration Change Control Board (CCCB).
  • Supporting ongoing data management processes, including CMMI, IPDP, and DM internal audit gate review activities.
  • Applying and administering configuration planning.
  • Ensuring configuration identification, change management, verification, and audits in compliance with standards.
  • Managing digital files and work products, including those imported from the Authority and suppliers.
  • Championing and fostering a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring that all programme-related information is effectively stored and controlled at the contract's close-out.
  • Any other duties required to meet the needs of the programme.


Job Requirements:

  • Experience with configuration and data management systems, such as Windchill.
  • Understanding of records management.
  • Knowledge of CMDM processes and artefacts.
  • General awareness of the five configuration management pillars.
  • Understanding the importance of handling data and documents according to the Government Security Classification Policy (GSCP).
  • Experience with SharePoint and/or Kahootz.

You should have a solid understanding of configuration and data management principles ideally within the defence sector. You are detail-oriented, methodical, and capable of working independently while also contributing to a broader team effort. Your expertise will play a vital role in ensuring that documentation and data control processes meet rigorous standards.
