Factory Operative

M4 Recruitment are looking for a reliable and physically fit Yard Operative to join our clients team based on the outskirts of Swindon.

In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for a variety of essential tasks, including heavy lifting, sorting, grading, and stacking timber. The successful candidate will work alongside a team to ensure production targets are met while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. Full training will be provided to ensure you are equipped with the knowledge to succeed in this role.

Working Hours: Monday - Friday

Key Responsibilities:

• Timber Handling: This will involve frequent heavy lifting, manual handling, and moving large or bulky items.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with fellow team members and supervisors to meet production targets and deadlines. Assist in loading and unloading timber as needed, ensuring it is handled efficiently and safely.
• Quality Control: Ensure products are checked for defects and correctly graded, reporting any issues to the supervisor immediately. Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
• Machine Support: Occasionally assist in operating machinery or transporting materials around the yard, depending on experience and training.

Requirements:

• Physical Fitness: Must be able to perform heavy lifting, stand for extended periods, and handle physically demanding tasks. Experience in manual labor or physical roles is a plus.
• Experience: Previous experience in a similar yard or sawmill role is advantageous but not essential. Training will be provided to candidates with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Attention to Detail: Strong ability to follow instructions precisely and ensure quality control throughout the timber handling process.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors, ensuring smooth workflow and problem-solving.
• Team-Oriented: Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility and adaptability are key as roles may vary depending on daily requirements.
• Commitment to Safety: Understanding and adherence to health and safety practices in a sawmill environment.

Working Conditions:

• This role is based in an outdoor yard environment with exposure to varying weather conditions.
• PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including gloves, safety boots, and high-visibility clothing must be worn at all times.
• This is a physically demanding role, requiring strength, stamina, and the ability to work in a physically intense environment.
