If you ve previously worked as a nanny and have experience caring for children with diverse needs, this SEN Teaching Assistant role could be your ideal next step. You ll be part of a dedicated team helping to create a positive, structured learning environment where every child can thrive.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant , you ll receive guidance and training while working closely with teachers and therapists to meet the individual needs of students.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting students with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), speech and language difficulties, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges in and out of the classroom.
• Assisting with daily routines and providing personal care when required.
• Encouraging social and emotional development through consistent, patient interactions.
• Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, helping them to feel safe and confident.
• Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual support strategies.

To be considered for the SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will:

• Have previous experience as a nanny, childminder, or in another caregiving role involving children with additional needs.
• Be kind, compassionate, and genuinely interested in supporting children with SEN.
• Have strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children and staff.
• Be willing to learn and adapt as part of a supportive team.
• Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one through GSL).
