Senior Mechanical Engineer


At Dornan we are currently recruiting for Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a Data Centre Project in London Reporting to the  Project Manager, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will coordinate a project's technical design with the on-site installation through to successful commissioning ensuring that the Dornan process vision, mission, and values are fulfilled. To interface with the client's representatives and the supply chain on site. They would work effectively with the project manager and project teams to review and manage project from inception to handover. As a senior member of the team, the Senior Engineer will be an exemplar ambassador for the company and its values, integrity, dependability, safety, pride, and quality. Roles and Responsibilities: Ensure technical issues are identified and resolved promptly to avoid delays to the project programme. Manage internal procurement processes from equipment enquiries through requisitioning, manufacture tracking, and delivery to site, maintaining a clear audit trail. Attend and record regular supply chain meetings to monitor progress and ensure alignment with the construction programme. Prepare risk assessments, method statements, and documentation relating to Health and Safety requirements on site. Liaise with the design team and supply chain to ensure correct installation, operation, and successful commissioning of mechanical systems. Monitor and record site progress against the construction programme and report on key milestones. Ensure Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures are followed and that appropriate records are maintained. Develop and maintain the project-specific quality plan. Hold regular coordination meetings with the supply chain to maintain progress and ensure resources align with the construction schedule. Liaise with the Project Manager to review progress, resource allocation, and project delivery. Assist in preparing the project close-out report and final project documentation. Ensure site personnel have the required training and valid certifications relevant to the project. Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned by your manager from time to time. Qualifications:  Degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline Relevant site certifications such as CSCS / Safe Pass / equivalent (as required by project location) Overview of Knowledge Required: Proven experience working as a Senior Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Engineer on large-scale commercial, industrial, or data centre projects Strong knowledge of mechanical building services systems including HVAC, pipework, public health, and associated plant Experience in procurement, technical submittals, and equipment selection within construction projects Demonstrated experience coordinating with design teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners Solid understanding of construction programmes, commissioning, and project handover processes Knowledge of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality management systems within construction environments Strong communication, coordination, and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Proficiency in technical documentation, reporting, and project coordination tools (e.g., MS Office, project management systems) Why Dornan?
