Job Title: Principal Civil Engineer Ref. No.: CJD1001G26 Location: Edinburgh Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 This is an exciting opportunity to join my client, a respected, innovative Multidisciplinary Consultancy, dedicated to broadening their geographical reach by launching a brand new office location in beautiful Scotland. Renowned for lending their expertise to a diverse range of projects across the landscape architecture, planning, and civil engineering fields, they are currently searching for a capable, experienced Principal Civil Engineer with extensive knowledge of infrastructure design, who is willing to win, manage, and successfully deliver a number of challenging new projects across the region. You will have a genuine hand in establishing and leading a team of design professionals, based in the culturally-rich, picturesque Scottish Capital City of Edinburgh. Benefits for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include (but are not limited to): - Competitive salary package - Employee Pension Scheme - Generous annual leave entitlement - Dedication to your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) - Working on exciting infrastructure projects across the region - Proactively influencing the future of the company Responsibilities for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include: Overseeing a number of infrastructure projects and developments Managing the day-to-day running of projects, from inception through to successful delivery/implementation Providing mentorship and support to colleagues, overseeing their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Establishing and maintaining important professional relationships with clients and other stakeholders Preparing, checking, and submitting technical documents, including reports, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, and more Subscribing to and promoting company policies, procedures, and best practice Enforcing the appropriate health and safety standards and regulations at all times Contributing to the company's business development strategies, acting as a trusted representative at client meetings, site visits, etc. Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include: A First Degree in Civil Engineering Possess Chartered Status with a recognised Professional Body (e.g., ICE) Extensive experience in a design-based role, within a UK consultancy or Local Authority setting Considerable experience of working with infrastructure (namely drainage and highways), housing developments, and energy projects Experience of earthworks design and drainage network modelling Proficient in the use of various software packages (to include Civils 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, etc.) Demonstrable experience of writing, checking, and amending reports and other technical documents for submission Experience of managing people and projects within the sector Prior experience of managing client and stakeholder relations, influencing Business Development (BD) Outstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Hold a full, valid UK driving licence Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include: A Master's Degree in a relevant discipline Experience of authoring Flood Risk and Transport Assessments Experience of working in a public-facing role If you are interested in the role of Principal Civil Engineer, please do not hesitate to contact Caroline Davis at Penguin Recruitment.
