School Maintenance Operative Salary: Starting from £26,208 per annum Contract: Full Time Locations: Two school sites in Altrincham and Marple (Role split across both locations) Make Every Day Extraordinary We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and proactive School Maintenance Operative to support the safe and effective operation of two specialist education sites. This is a practical, hands-on role where your work will have a direct and meaningful impact on pupils, staff, and visitors every day. The Role Working closely with school leadership and the estates team, you will help maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-presented environment across both sites. The role includes both planned and reactive maintenance tasks. Key Responsibilities Carry out and accurately record routine health and safety checks, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, playground equipment, and legionella prevention Complete a wide range of general maintenance tasks, including basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor repairs Plan and deliver a rolling programme of decoration, primarily during school holidays Supervise external contractors on site, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard Maintain school grounds, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, and general upkeep as required Keep pathways, entrances, and outdoor areas clear of leaves, moss, snow, and ice to ensure safe access Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by senior leadership or the estates team What We’re Looking For Proven experience in a multi-skilled maintenance or site operative role Ability to work independently and manage your own workload Practical, organised, and solutions-focused approach Good understanding of health and safety requirements Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work across more than one site What We Offer Enhanced pension scheme Staff referral bonus scheme Enhanced maternity and paternity pay Access to a Blue Light discount card Fully funded training and professional qualifications Enhanced pay scales based on experience and skills Employee benefits package including wellbeing support and retail discounts Life assurance
