Payroll Officer


Our prestigious client based in London are currently recruiting for a Payroll Officer on a 6-month contract. This is a hybrid position based in Central London. You will be working within the finance team and multiple other large departments. The finance team has a responsibility of processing the monthly payroll of around 8,000 people. You will undertake end-to-end payroll administration tasks in accordance with relevant policies and legislation. Main Duties: End to end payroll processing for all relevant payrolls (starters, leavers, changes, variance checking etc.) Total headcount of all payrolls is around 8,500 payees across UK, Isle of Man and Channel Island specific legislation Prepare paperwork for out-of-cycle payments and advances Manage overpayment and death in service processes Handle third-party payment requests and ensure timely payments and reports Provide exceptional customer service to payees and payroll customers in a timely manner to answer any relevant queries Adhere to internal control requirements and audit compliance Assist with monthly account reconciliations and SAP control accounts Support internal and external audit processes Proactive and strict management of the payroll deadlines and send email reminders Supporting the production of relevant KPIs to monitor performance of the team Keeping procedure manuals and desk notes up to date Collaborate with Senior Payroll Advisors to improve processes and implement changes as agreed  Essential Qualifications: Experience of working within a payroll environment using computerised payroll systems Familiar with basic UK payroll legislation Experience of dealing with a large and varied customer base Experience of working in a collaborative, team environment GCSE or equivalent, and proven experience in a similar role Meticulous attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy Very good numerical skills, able to undertake calculations with confidence and spot errors Good IT skills, with accurate and quick data entry/ keyboard skills Confident, polite, service-orientated approach, able to offer excellent customer service Able to identify priorities and plan and organise daily work routines Ability to work well and effectively under pressure to meet strict deadlinesDesirable Qualifications: Level 3 National Payroll Certificate or similar (e.g. CIPP) Experience of using Oracle HCM Cloud Up to date knowledge of IOM (ITIP and IOM NI) and Channel Island payroll (SI Soc Sec) legislationIf you have all the relevant skills and experience, this is not an opportunity you want to miss out on!
