TEACHER OF PSYCHOLOGY

TEACHER OF PSYCHOLOGY

We are looking for a dynamic A Level teacher to join a well-established and well-resourced Psychology department for September 2024.  The department comprises three full-time teachers and there are nine A Level groups – over 100 students in all.  The department follows the AQA A Level course whose units include Gender, Schizophrenia and Forensic Psychology.  In the teaching and learning, much emphasis is placed not only on the understanding of psychological models but also on the ability of each student to apply these to real-world scenarios and case studies. Teachers typically teach three classes, with 6 hours contact time per week for each class.

Hurtwood House is one of England’s most exciting and successful schools, specialising exclusively in the Sixth Form. We have an impressive academic record, a reputation for preparing students successfully for higher education and are renowned for the quality of our pastoral care.  A culture of high expectations, creativity and professionalism permeates the school and we encourage students and staff to work in partnership to achieve the academic and personal outcomes that are important to us.

Hurtwood House has its own generous salary scale and benefits – our staff are welcome to join students in the first class dining facilities for three meals a day and there is a staff wellbeing programme, comprising in-school sessions and membership of the local leisure centre and its facilities, along with membership of our EAP.  Accommodation is available for this role for any candidates who are willing to join one of the boarding house teams.  We are a member of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

Closing Date: Friday 31 May 2024
(Interviews will take place in the week beginning 10 June 2024)
