Operations Manager

Summary of the role
At Nordson Medical as Operations Manager you will be a key member of the Site Leadership Team in our Galway facility, with responsibility for Finished device business unit including strategic planning, automation, and capacity planning.
This role will suit someone who puts people first and has demonstrated ability to lead teams to deliver Quality first culture, customer service, enabling growth, continuous improvement of products and processes and drive engagement of the operations teams, while adhering to Nordson Medical core values and foundational attributes.

Role and Responsibilities
Mentors and coaches' operations staff and supports all in achieving build plans, business strategic programs, leads engagement and teamwork.
Ensure that sufficient processes are in place for capacity planning so the organisations commitment to meet or exceeds customers' requirements are met.
Sponsors / leads an environment of safety, Quality, People Development and CI within Nordson by working with business partners to define expected standards and roles / responsibilities in achieving these standards.
Leads a positive employee environment by promoting open communication, engagement and development of top quality teams. Promotes a culture of inclusiveness, trust, flexibility and teamwork.
Establish performance targets for the business unit , and monitor actual business unit performance against targets, taking proactive and timely corrective actions when negative trends begin to emerge.
Drive alignment ensuring day to day effective management of production, ensuring products are produced in a timely and cost-effective manner across the business unit.
Ensures that the necessary capacity is in place to meet customer requirements.
Member of the site management team, participate and leads Health & Safety initiatives for the site.
Manage resources to support technical trials/new product/ new technology introduction in conjunction with the Product Development, Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineering and Quality departments.
Champion NBS Next program supporting Continuous Improvement & problem solving within the organisation in addition to supporting six sigma green and black belt projects.
Manage performance of direct reports, and ensure actions, improvements and decisions emanating from these reviews are carried out in a timely manner.
Achieve key project deliverables on time and within budget.
Maintain effective communication with staff in order to promote awareness of and to conform to customer requirements.
Organise, implement and maintain a recruitment and training programme to ensure Operators, Technicians and support staff are fully capable of performing their duties.
Ensure that manufacturing equipment and processes are validated and calibrated in accordance with the Nordson Medical quality system.
Manage headcount and expenditure within budgeted figures and deliver on cost savings.
Skills and Qualifications
The Operations Manager should have a primary degree in Polymer, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering; Or minimum of 8-12 years relevant experience in a manufacturing management role.
S/he should preferably have a minimum of 5 -7 years medical device/pharmaceutical and/or diagnostics manufacturing experience. At a minimum 5 - 7 years' experience in a senior manufacturing management role.
S/he needs strong communication, people management and influencing skills.
Ability to effectively simultaneously manage a wide range of diverse activities.
Self-starter with good motivational and inter-personal skills.
Practical level-headed individual who is prepared to actively participate as an active member of the management team.
S/he must be innovative and have a high level of mechanical aptitude.
Travel
Some travel may be required (less than 5%).
