SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH Specialism) Hours of Work: 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Term Time Pay: £85-£100 per day Location: Hackney, East London My client, a reputable educational institution nestled in the vibrant borough of Hackney, East London, is currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialization in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH). As an integral part of the support team, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing tailored assistance to pupils with SEMH needs, fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities: • Provide one-to-one and group support to students with SEMH needs, promoting their emotional well-being and academic progress. • Implement individualized behaviour management strategies to support students in managing their emotions and behaviours effectively. • Collaborate closely with class teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to develop and implement personalized education plans (PEPs) for students. • Foster positive relationships with students, acting as a mentor and advocate to facilitate their social and emotional development. • Assist in the creation and adaptation of learning resources to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH requirements. • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, contributing to ongoing assessments and reviews. Requirements: • Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably within an educational setting. • Strong understanding of SEMH and its impact on learning and behaviour. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents. • Patience, empathy, and resilience to effectively support students facing social and emotional challenges. • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support or related fields (desirable). • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).
