Software Team Lead

Software Team Leader – Chelmsford - £60K Always working at the cutting-edge of technology, our client has an enviable reputation as a world leader, developing products for health care, scientific and satellite / space industries. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Software Team Leader to lead a team of engineers in the design and development of software used in automated test equipment (ATE) to test and operate Imaging Sensors used in Space and science applications. As the Team Leader and Senior Software Engineer, the ideal candidate will design and deliver software solutions (50%), while supporting and providing leadership to the team (50%). Duties will include: Lead the acquisition software platform, which is written in LabVIEW Lead a small team of Software Engineers Design, develop and deliver control, acquisition and analysis software using LabVIEW and MATLAB Deliver software work packages and associated documentation, such as test plans and test reports Configuration control and management Contribute to the roadmap for ATE software and test equipment Ownership, Maintenance & Delivery of the Software Development Plan (SDP) Drive quality Provide Engineering support to other divisions within the business Work alongside teams outside of the Test Software group, including Electronics, Firmware, Project Management and Product Verification to develop and deliver ATE Skills & Experience Extensive experience in LabVIEW or MATLAB Automated Test Equipment (ATE) software design experience Broad test engineering experience Previous software team leadership experience gained as Senior Software Engineer, Lead Software Engineer, Team Leader or similar Experience of structured software development processes Experience of test development and fault finding Good Leadership and communication skills Technical proficiency in one or more of C#, C++, Python Knowledge of electronics principles and/or device physics of Charge Coupled Devices, CMOS image detectors and associated Read out ICs (ROICs) is desirable Salary and Benefits Basic salary up to £60K Training and access to the “Internal University” Pensions and Life Assurance Variable Pay options include Employee bonuses, Sales Incentive Plans and Recognition Schemes Discount arrangements on a wide range of goods, hospitality providers, personal electronics and services Excellent career mobility with national and international opportunities Occupational health provisions and medical benefits Employee assistance and wellbeing support Key Words: Software Engineer, LabVIEW, C#, C++, Python, ATE, Automated Test Equipment, Lead Software Engineer, Software Engineer Team Leader
