Software Support Engineer


Uneek’s client is a Cheltenham-based software house. They are looking to recruit an individual to work primarily on technical software support and product installations, but the role would suit someone with DBA skills who is able to analyse data. This is a hybrid position with a minimum of 2 days a week on-site.    Tasks and Responsibilities include: Working with customers/employees to identify system problems and advising on the solution Logging and keeping records of customer/employee queries Analysing call logs so you can spot common trends and underlying problems Updating documentation so customers/employees can try to fix problems themselves Installations Testing Database Administration Updating user guide and wiki    Desired Technical skills: Database analysis & administration Database performance tuning IIS SQL Server SQL Server Reporting Services Windows-based applications Web-based applications TFS    Desirable Skills, but not required .NET C#    Required non-technical skills As well as a strong technical background, the successful applicant will have good communication skills.  This is key in a helpdesk environment as it is necessary to explain complex information in simple, clear terms to a non-IT personnel. Additional non-technical skills include; Logical thinker Good analytical and problem-solving skills Good interpersonal and customer care skills
