R&D Chemist - Resins Working for a UK manufacturer of industrial and residential resin products, specialising in Epoxy Resin Flooring applied across a range of industries which include pharmaceutical, engineering, food, government and retail, as well as supporting businesses and individuals with the products, training and expertise to become professional applicators. Reporting to the Managing Director, the R&D Chemist will be responsible for developing new products and technologies to provide cutting edge bespoke solutions across existing and new industries, as well as managing production. R&D Chemist Responsibilities; * Developing new resins, utilising polyurethane and epoxy systems * Supporting the development process from briefing to development and formulation approvals, whilst assisting with raw material and new technology research. * Owning responsibility for whole project lifecycle from receiving the customer brief through to supervising initial production and trials. * Identifying new products, this will include researching products and ingredients, liaising with suppliers, and obtaining samples. * Improvement of existing products, including troubleshooting any issues and working with different departments to gain in-put. * Conduct laboratory and production sized trials of new formulations. * Source and prepare technical documentation, including Safety Datasheets and Technical Datasheet, in accordance with current procedures and systems. * Identify opportunities and conduct field research to remain up to date with products available on the market and new product launches. * Source and prepare technical documentation, including Safety Datasheets and Technical Datasheet, in accordance with current procedures and systems. * Ensure all relevant Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental considerations are completed for new projects. * Support the sales team with technical knowledge. * Hands on development of new products including implementation and scale up, technical support of production process. * Extensive testing and characterisation of products with information relevant to the application field * Ensuring the Quality System is adhered to and product quality is assured including rejection, concession and rework Candidate Profile; * A minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in a laboratory environment with product development and ideally formulating experience within the resins, coatings, sealants, adhesives, elastomers chemistry, or similar, sector * Fully capable in writing technical reports * Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or related subject * Team player that can help motivate and inspire work colleagues to deliver the same standards, and instill a desire to achieve Company objectives Working hours Monday to Friday 08.00 to 17.00.
