Site Manager


SSA are currently recruiting for an established construction and civil engineering company as they are seeking a proactive Site Manager. This company mainly specialise in Roadworks, Highways and Groundworks. They are based in Manchester.

Job Overview:
As a Site Manager for their civils division, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. You will manage a team of operatives, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee all site activities, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of projects.
  • Coordinate site resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Supervise and lead the on-site workforce, including subcontractors.
  • Monitor site progress, quality, and safety standards to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and the project team to ensure smooth communication and project delivery.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and health & safety checks to identify and resolve potential hazards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, reports, and timesheets.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and health & safety regulations.
  • Provide technical support and problem-solving on site issues as they arise.
Essential Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager in the civils sector
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, health & safety regulations, and quality control.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or equivalent certification.
  • First Aid qualification (preferred).
  • Valid UK driving license (or relevant local driving license).
  • HNC/D in Civil Engineering or similar qualification.
