Based in Helmsley, North Yorkshire

The North York Moors National Park Authority looks after and promotes one of the most beautiful parts of the British Isles. Filled with breathtaking scenery, magnificent wildlife, picture book villages and a dramatic coastline, the North York Moors boasts some of the most diverse landscapes in the UK.

We are now looking for a Countryside Worker Apprentice to join us on a full-time basis, for a two-year apprenticeship.

The Benefits

- Training allowance of £14,565 per annum, plus an annual apprentice supplement of £1,443 and travel allowance of £360 (first year only - your pay will increase to the minimum wage for your age in your second year)

The Role

As a Countryside Worker Apprentice, you’ll get stuck into real conservation work while learning on the job and working towards a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification.

Based across the stunning landscapes of the North York Moors, you’ll join our friendly countryside team to learn how we care for nature and keep the Park’s trails, paths, and public spaces in great shape. From repairing footpaths to helping with wildlife surveys, every day will bring something new.

You’ll gain practical skills that will kickstart your career in the great outdoors and springboard you into a profession to be proud of, all while helping to protect one of the UK’s most beautiful National Parks.

Additionally, you’ll have the chance to:

- Learn how to build and fix countryside features like bridges, stiles, gates, and signs
- Chat with visitors and community groups to share what we do and why it matters
- Visit local schools to talk about apprenticeships and inspire others to get involved

About You

To join us as a Countryside Worker Apprentice, you will need:

- The willingness to train and study for an Environmental Conservation qualification
- A strong interest in learning practical conservation and field skills

The closing date for this role is midnight on Sunday 27th July 2025.
Interviews are anticipated to be held on Tuesday 5th August 2025.
