Youth Support Worker

Are you able to support vulnerable young people in the Bargoed area, who have housing related support needs, including those who require support to establish and maintain a tenancy and those who are homeless?

We are searching for a Youth Support Worker - for a temporary contract.

What will you do?

• Support people aged 16 - 25 across Bargoed who are affected by homelessness and struggling to find, secure or maintain appropriate accommodation
• Undertake assessments of need in accordance with the support assessment procedure and as directed by the Projects Manager.
• Undertake risk assessments and risk management plans, including safety planning in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Work within a multi-agency settings where possible (mainly internal projects), with travel across the Caerphilly area.
• Liaise with colleagues to provide timely, appropriate support.
• Work within the Supporting People Gateway framework, liaising with staff as required for case management and allocation.
• Deliver support and assistance to each person in accordance with the ethos, values and policies of the charity.

What do we need?

• Someone with experience in supporting people facing housing and homelessness issues.
• A driver who can get around the area.
• A DBS on the update service will be a distinct advantage.
• A good understanding of the causes and effects of homelessness.
• Able to stay calm in a crisis.
• Good knowledge of the housing sector.
• Someone who can speak out for others and act as an advocate.
