Quantity Surveyor


Our Water contractor client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to be based out of their Chatham office working on water/wastewater projects on hybrid working basis.

Our client forms part of a joint venture delivering a range of schemes to maintain and improve Southern Water's water supply and wastewater treatment works in the eastern half of its region (Kent & Sussex).

You will support the delivery of essential infrastructure solutions for the next water sector funding cycle known as AMP8. The award is for an initial seven-year term up to 500m in value, with an option to extend by up to five years.


The strategic delivery partner framework will deliver upgrades to water and wastewater assets, including treatment sites, pumping stations and reservoirs, during Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) and beyond. Southern Water expects that its AMP8 programme, which runs from 2025 to 2030, will be the largest it has ever undertaken.

Responsibilities

  • Efficient and effective management and issue of accurate, timely and compliant notices and correspondence
  • Ensure contractual and commercial risks and opportunities are identified to the Project Director/Manager
  • Maintaining registers of variations, delay, extension times and claims, effective and consistent implementation of the Company's commercial policies and procedures.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly progress valuations and claim for work completed.
  • Liaise with Employers commercial team & client team
  • Produce pre-Contract tender negotiations & reports where necessary
  • Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts, and Contract Budget reports
  • Review value management and advise on Risk management
  • Prepare, review and complete of sub-contract documentation
  • Plan change management and cost control
  • Prepare & agree interim applications for payment
  • Prepare & agree final accounts with sub contractor
  • Manage subcontracts from initial placement of order to final account
  • Monitor and update Procurement Plan, Sub-contract procurement including analysing commercial comparisons
  • Reconcile weekly plant, material, labour reconciliation against budget

Qualifications

  • Hold / nearing completion of Full Membership of either RICS or CICES
  • Relevant degree / equivalent in Quantity Surveying
  • Experience of NEC form of Contract
  • Significant commercial experience preferably in the water sector
  • Increasing knowledge of a variety of forms & options of contracts
  • Have a good understanding and experience of business systems, spreadsheet development, cost analysis, programme evaluation and development, compensation event and/or variations assessment and evaluation
  • Have experience or appreciation of the risk management process for both schedule and cost and the use of Earned Value Management
  • Full Clean Drivers Licence
