CNC Sliding Head Setter/Programmer/Operator

Our clients based close to Portsmouth have an exciting opportunity for a CNC Sliding Head Programmer, Setter, Operator to join their growing team.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Sliding Head Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in programming, setting, and operating CNC sliding head lathes preferably Star machines, though experience with similar machines is also acceptable. A strong understanding of Fanuc controls is desired.

Key Responsibilities
• Program, set, and operate CNC sliding head machines
• Write and edit CNC programs using Fanuc controls
• Carry out part inspection using standard measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges, etc.)
• Ensure components are produced to tight tolerances and quality standards
• Perform regular machine maintenance and troubleshooting
• Collaborate with the team and assist in training less experienced staff
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment

Essential Skills & Experience:
• Extensive experience with CNC sliding head lathes (Star or similar)
• Proficient in programming and editing using Fanuc controls
• Able to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
• Skilled in using precision measuring instruments
• Strong attention to detail and quality-driven
• Willingness to share knowledge and mentor junior staff

Monday Thursday 8am-4.30pm
Friday 8am-3.30pm
