Senior Underwriter

The opportunity

A growing insurance business is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join its Renewals Team , with flexibility to work 3 days in the office (Leeds) and 2 days from home . Offices are also available in Manchester and Birmingham .

The role focuses on Social Welfare and Charity risks, including foster care , rehab centres , and special needs schools . The team has a strong industry reputation and offers an exciting chance to work in a supportive, people-first environment .

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite renewals , including complex and high-premium cases
• Manage broker referrals via e-trading , email, and phone
• Build and maintain strong broker relationships
• Attend market update meetings and share insights
• Ensure compliance with company guidelines and profitability targets
• Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell
• Support team development and assist with ad hoc projects

Skills & experience

• Proven commercial underwriting experience (social welfare a plus)
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to develop broker relationships
• Confident using MS Office and e-trading systems
• Willingness to pursue or already hold CII qualifications (fully funded)
